Trailer:
The full-length feature film based on Vladimir Tendryakov’s novel THE FIND (a.k.a. NAKHODKA) starring Aleksey Guskov and Nadezhda Markina. The film will be released in Russia on December 3, 2015.
Recently THE FIND was awarded for the Best Cinematography at the 26th Open Russian Film Festival KINOTAVR in 2015 and was marked by VFF Talent Highlight Pitch Award Co-production Market of the International Film Festival Berlin (Berlinale Co-production Market) in 2011. In September 2015 Aleksey Guskov won the prize for the Best male role at the Russian festival AMURSKAYA OSEN in Blagoveshchensk.
The film tells the story of the senior fishery inspector Trofim Rusanov. He is morose and unsociable and considers all people around him to be criminals so he will never forgive someone who doesn’t follow the fishing rules. Under certain circumstances, Trofim finds himself in taiga forest surrounded by severe nature, tens kilometers away from human civilization. The incident that happened to him in the snowy taiga has totally changed his view of life.
The screenplay is an adaptation of the novel NAKHODKA (1965) by Vladimir Tendryakov who was one of the most uncompromising Soviet writers.
Victor Dement, Director, Screenwriter: “The novel NAKHODKA has been written a half century ago. Whether have people changed much since then? The real incident, that became the basis for this story, still excites the imagination. Nowadays we can also face similar situations but for some reason they rather become a subject for police chronicles than cause serious discussion about how and why we live”.
Andrey Naidenov, Director of Photography: “Nature is an acting character. Centuries-old virgin forest, black-icy stormy river, blinding snow covered all forest paths and impassable bog – they are not just obstacles on Rusanov’s way. It is a huge world, genuine, elemental and harsh. It does not accept people’s laws”.
Dimitri Klepatski, Producer: “For me, this is first of all the story of forgiveness. The story about forgiving yourself and others, finding your own soul through it. Nowadays the world is full of hatred, intolerance, offense and malice and only forgiveness can save all of us…”
Natalia Budkina, Producer: “It is extremely important that the theme and cinematic language would be in tune with the time in the movie because it makes the audience to take the story to heart and be interested in everything that is happening on screen. THE FIND is exactly this kind of project. On the one hand, it is a timeless parable, on the other, it is a modern story because the subjects of forgiveness and “someone’s own truth” are very timely”.
Konstantin Nafikov, CEO of Reflexion Films: “This is more than 50 years old story, but it did not lose the relevance and actuality. I am sure that the film will find its audience which needs such movies more and more”.
